Liz Gangware grew up near Chicago, IL and has lived in the Denver metro area since 2013. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and a Certificate in Cognitive Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU). Shortly after, she went back to CU to earn her SLP-Assistant Certificate, and later obtained her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Akron.
She has worked with children with communication disorders, including people with severe disabilities, for over 15 years. She has previously held positions as a respite provider for children with a variety of developmental disabilities, including autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome. She has also spent time as an adult day program staff, a manager for an after-school program for kids with disabilities, a 1-on-1 para for a nonverbal 1st grade student with Angelman syndrome, and an SLP-Assistant in Jeffco and Adams 12. Spending time with this population sparked her interest in speech sound disorders, leading her on a journey to develop both a passion and then work experience/expertise in various areas of speech and language therapy. Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience in fluency, speech sound disorders, AAC, expressive/receptive language disorders, pragmatics, cognition, voice, and CAS as well as being PROMPT trained.
Liz’s experience as an opera singer adds a unique aspect to her therapy approach. Her extensive ear training has made her deeply familiar with the nuances of vowel articulation. Using these opera skills in tandem, she is able to listen to the client’s impaired speech and visualize what the client’s "hidden" articulators are doing, giving her the ability to provide highly detailed and specific feedback.
Liz is passionate about creating a warm, caring, and supportive environment for her clients, as she believes people grow best when they feel safe to make mistakes. She enjoys getting to know each child and family, and tailoring sessions to match their interests and needs.

Outside of the clinic, Liz loves gardening, volunteering, walking her dog, cooking/baking, and making music. You can find her singing across the Colorado Front Range with organizations such as Opera Colorado, The Colorado Symphony, and Central City Opera.
